Monastero delle Clarisse

Started to become a Santa Clara cloister in 1605 by Cesare Zattara from Levanto who was living in Naples, the construction went on very slowly because of its high costs and the first nuns there settled only in 1688. The part wich was first finished was the church of the Holy Trinity ( now San Rocco oratory), then the owner gave it to the town, but the community was not able to finish the building as it was too expensive ( infact you can't find the south wing which was closed anciently from a high city wall near the beach). During the Napoleon Age the building was confiscated by the church, then after several owners, given back to the town in the middle of last century.today is the seat of the town Commune, of the civic library, of the Comunità Montana and of the police station.
